Type 1 diabetes drug delays onset by three years
This is the first treatment of its kind, offering people up to three extra years before needing daily insulin for type 1 diabetes. NICE, the health guidance body, approved teplizumab for children aged eight and over and adults with early-stage disease. Around 1,100 people could be eligible in the first year for the 14-day course.
