France is deploying around 70,000 police and gendarmes across the country on Saturday to prevent a repeat of last week's riots, when protests spiralled into looting and arson. Armoured vehicles, water cannon, helicopters and drones are on standby, and the Louvre and other major Paris museums have closed their doors. Several cities have restricted or banned demonstrations as authorities brace for fresh unrest this weekend.
