Former Tottenham striker Martin Chivers dies aged 80
Martin Chivers, ex-Tottenham Hotspur and England forward, has passed away at 80. Southampton-born, Chivers started his footballing career with the Saints. In 1968, Spurs secured his transfer for £125,000. During his time at White Hart Lane, he played 367 matches, scoring 174 goals. He aided Tottenham in winning two League Cups and the 1972 UEFA Cup, including a memorable goal against Wolves. Chivers also played 24 times for England, scoring 13 goals; his final appearance was in 1973.
