First time in 25 years: More Americans side with Palestinians over Israelis.
A landmark Gallup poll conducted 2–16 February 2026 found 41% of Americans now sympathise more with Palestinians compared with 36% for Israelis — the first time in 25 years of polling that Israel has trailed. Benedict Vigers, senior writer at Gallup, called it 'really quite striking,' noting the gap has 'completely closed.' Three years ago, 54% sided with Israel. Trita Parsi of the Quincy Institute said the shift explains 'a sense of desperate urgency' behind US-Israeli military action. For British MPs facing domestic pressure over UK arms sales to Israel, the trend is being closely monitored.
