Firing a General During Wartime: Hegseth Ousts Randy George
The US Army's top officer has left his position earlier than planned, adding to tensions between the Pentagon and the army. General Randy George, the 41st Chief of Staff, was asked by Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth to retire immediately. The Pentagon officially confirmed the departure on Thursday. George was nominated by Joe Biden, confirmed in September 2023, and had been expected to serve through 2027.
