Asian Hornets Spread Faster During UK Heatwave
People could see more Asian hornets near homes and gardens as hotter weather helps the invasive insects spread and threatens honeybees. Experts said rising temperatures in 2026 may increase queen activity, with sightings already moving further inland across southern England. Last year brought 544 sightings and 161 confirmed nests, while one nest can produce hundreds of queens before autumn in the UK.
