Around two and a half million passengers will now need a valid passport to board ferries between Wales and the Republic of Ireland. The change affects journeys from Holyhead, Fishguard, and Pembroke Dock, including car and lorry drivers. Ferry companies Stena and Irish Ferries made the change from Monday to meet UK government rules on passenger lists.
