Al Carns quits: UK defence 'underfunded, outdated'
Al Carns, the armed forces minister, quit on Thursday night, saying the UK's defence plans are underfunded and use outdated systems. He resigned hours after his boss, Defence Secretary John Healey, also quit over the same Defence Investment Plan. Carns said the plan was "looking at how to fight the last war rather than the next one".
