AI may cut UK jobs but boost GDP

Research from the Tony Blair Institute suggests artificial intelligence could displace between 1 million to 3 million jobs in the UK's private sector by 2035, with administrative, sales, customer service and data-intensive banking and finance roles most at risk. The displacement would occur gradually, peaking at 275,000 job losses annually in the mid-2030s. However, researchers predict net unemployment increases will remain in the low hundreds of thousands as AI simultaneously creates new roles and boosts GDP growth by up to 6 percent by 2035.
