EU officially designates Iran's Revolutionary Guard as terrorist organization

European Union foreign ministers officially designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization on Thursday. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and Ursula von der Leyen cited the regime's brutal crackdown on recent protests as justification. The bloc also imposed asset freezes and visa bans on 15 individuals and six entities. Tehran condemned the move as a strategic mistake, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accusing Europe of escalating regional tensions.
