Artificial human chromosomes are changing medicine
Synthetic genomics, a part of synthetic biology, involves creating entire genomes or chromosomes from scratch to make living cells or viruses. Human artificial chromosomes (HACs) are a promising technology for gene therapy, allowing large genetic regions to be used without changing the existing genome.
