HMRC Used Wrong Pension Figures for Years
Many pensioners could reclaim money after years of paying more income tax than they should've. HMRC used the wrong state pension figure in its calculations for at least a decade, despite concerns being raised by taxpayers and a formal investigation beginning after a complaint reached former chief executive Sir Jim Harra. Pensioners spotted mistakes in 2016, with concerns raised during the 2019–20 tax year.
