Meningitis B confirmed as strain in deadly Kent outbreak
Health officials have confirmed that Meningitis B is responsible for a deadly outbreak in Kent which has claimed the lives of two students. The UK Health Security Agency reported thirteen confirmed cases, with eleven people currently hospitalised. The infection cluster is believed to be linked to a Canterbury nightclub. In response, thousands of precautionary antibiotic doses are being distributed to university students and nightclub patrons to prevent further transmission across the local community.
