UK Hits Two Million EVs But Misses Mandate Target
The UK's two millionth electric car was registered in April after sales jumped 59.1% year on year, the SMMT confirmed. Despite this milestone, the full-year 2026 forecast has been downgraded to a 26.8% market share, well below the 33% Zero Emission Vehicle mandate. The SMMT warned the Iran conflict risks slowing demand further through higher inflation and energy costs.
