DRC Ebola outbreak passes 7000 cases, but spread may have peaked according to the government

The Democratic Republic of Congo's worst-ever Ebola outbreak has now recorded over 7000 cases, with nearly 3,400 people killed since mid-May. Congolese authorities say the spread of the disease may have peaked in early August, with case numbers now decreasing. However, the virus has spread to a seventh province, South-Ubangi, and cases have been detected in schools in Ituri province.
