Apple, Google Face UK's New App Payment Proposal
UK smartphone users may see more ways to pay inside apps with lower charges. Britain’s competition regulator on Tuesday proposed letting developers direct users to payment options outside Apple and Google app stores, removing rules that stop such steering. Watchdog said fees must be fair and lower than current commissions, with savings passed to consumers or innovation, while Apple has not responded.
