Democrat James Talarico has won a Senate seat in Texas, beating Republican Ken Paxton in one of the biggest upsets of the midterms. It is the first time a Democrat has won a Texas Senate race since 1988. Talarico, a former schoolteacher, campaigned on the cost of living. The race became the most expensive Senate contest ever, with more than half a billion dollars spent.
