Dementia patients face 'culture of containment' in NHS hospitals

Dignity and comfort are frequently denied to dementia patients in NHS hospitals, who face routine restraint and sedation. An 18-month national review exposed a "culture of containment," finding some patients were kept in bed for weeks. The report, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research, interviewed 168 patients and doctors.
