Germany plans €162bn military spending by 2029
Germany's significant defence build-up is reshaping European security and defence in response to a growing threat. Germany's armed forces chief, General Carsten Breuer, stated Russia could attack Nato territory by 2029. This involves a 2025 constitutional amendment to enable greater defence borrowing and adding 20,000 service personnel within one year.
