Pope Leo XIV condemned Trump's threat that 'a whole civilisation will die tonight' as 'truly unacceptable' and urged leaders to pursue a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The remarks came on Tuesday before the ceasefire was announced. Iran's government spokesperson had separately called the threat 'a sign of ignorance of the history of a nation that has repeatedly overcome crises.'
