China urges Iran ceasefire ahead of planned Trump-Xi summit
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for an immediate halt to military operations in Iran at his annual press briefing on the sidelines of the National People's Congress in Beijing on Sunday. He warned firmly against any attempt at regime change and rejected what he described as a return to the law of the jungle in international affairs. Wang struck a notably conciliatory tone towards Washington, with a summit between President Xi Jinping and President Trump expected later this month.
