Documents reveal the financier authorised a $14.95m payment for a Marrakech estate on 5 July 2019. This transaction to acquire the Bin Ennakhil property occurred just 24 hours prior to his detention in New York. His accountant cancelled the transfer three days later, meaning the sale was never finalised. While local media suggested he sought a non-extradition haven, released files contain no evidence of this plan.
