UK Launches Fast-Track Settlement Route for High Earners as Part of Major Immigration Overhaul

The UK government has announced a new earned settlement system allowing visa-holders earning over £125,000 to apply for indefinite leave to remain after just three years, compared to the standard five years. Under Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood's biggest immigration overhaul in 50 years, most workers will face a ten-year wait for settlement, while mid-earners between £50,000-£125,000 retain the current five-year path. The points-based system rewards high tax contributions and integration measures like English proficiency and community volunteering. A 12-week public consultation will determine final rules and transitional arrangements for existing visa holders.
