Cricket World Cup could shrink to 12 teams from 2027

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is reportedly weighing up a reduction in the number of teams competing in the 50-over World Cup, from 14 to 12, potentially for the 2027 tournament. The change was discussed at recent meetings in Edinburgh and could include a new 'super seven' stage.
