Church of England rejects plan to rewild 30% of its land by 2030

Church leaders voted against the proposal after Church Commissioners said they must balance nature recovery with their legal duty to manage church assets. The debate took place at the General Synod, where supporters argued the church should do more for wildlife and climate goals. Church land currently has only a small share managed mainly for nature restoration.
