China's chip breakthrough sends global tech stocks plunging

A Chinese company, Shanghai Yuliangsheng, has reportedly started producing immersion deep ultraviolet lithography machines, a key chipmaking technology. The new production has sparked concerns about Chinese competition in the chipmaking industry, causing technology shares to fall sharply on Tuesday. Major chipmakers in Asia and the US saw significant drops, with South Korea's Kospi index falling by about 11%.
