China investigates claims farmers are treating cabbages with formaldehyde
An investigation has been initiated by Chinese authorities following a blogger's video assertion that farmers were immersing cabbages in formaldehyde, a chemical employed for preserving lab specimens. The blogger, Yulie Qige, showed workers in Hebei province treating produce before loading it onto trucks for a market. Government bodies said local inspections are now happening nationwide, with rule-breakers facing severe punishment.
