China gives every humanoid robot a digital ID code

China has launched a national programme assigning every domestically made humanoid robot a unique digital identity code, similar to a citizen ID for walking machines. Each code has four parts covering a national tracking number, a manufacturer code, a product model code and an individual serial number that follows the unit from production to recycling. More than 28,000 robots across 200 models had already received an ID before the public announcement.
