Charlton Athletic match abandoned after fan dies

A Charlton Athletic supporter died following a medical emergency during the Championship match against Portsmouth at The Valley on Saturday afternoon. The game was halted in the 12th minute when the supporter in the Covered End required medical assistance. Despite treatment from medical staff and first responders, the supporter later passed away in hospital. The match was abandoned around 1:30pm after initially being paused. Both clubs released statements expressing devastation and condolences to the family.
