Canada's chief statistician André Loranger appointed UK's new National Statistician

André Loranger, who has led Statistics Canada since 2024, will start a five-year term as the UK's National Statistician later this autumn. His Majesty the King made the appointment on Tuesday, following advice from the Prime Minister. Loranger will serve as the chief statistical consultant for the UK Statistics Authority Board, the government, and ministers.
