Campaigners Urge Ministers to Slash Firework Noise to Protect Wildlife

Campaigners Urge Ministers to Slash Firework Noise to Protect Wildlife

Campaigners at the Center for Wild Animal Welfare want the UK government to cut the maximum noise of fireworks sold to the public from 120 to 90 decibels, saying that would shrink the area disturbed around each blast a hundredfold. Ministers have consulted on a smaller cut to 110 decibels. The group says loud bangs stress birds and other wildlife, causing displacement and fatal collisions.
