Child safety campaigners are calling on Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham to make social media companies change their platforms after Meta settled a US lawsuit. On Wednesday, Meta agreed to pay up to $17 billion (£12.5 billion) to 29 US states that accused it of harming young people's wellbeing. The deal includes daily limits and hidden likes for US teenagers on Instagram and Facebook.
