Cambridgeshire farmers heartbroken as 100 tonnes of potatoes sold for cattle feed

A Cambridgeshire family farm was heartbroken after its latest potato crop sold for just £5 per tonne, a fraction of the usual price. An oversupply in the market led to over 100 tonnes of their potatoes being sold to feed cattle instead. GB Potatoes, an industry body, said high production levels in the UK and Europe last year caused prices to collapse.
