Burnham set to replace Reeves as Chancellor

If Andy Burnham becomes Prime Minister, he is expected to offer Rachel Reeves a more junior cabinet role, not Chancellor. A close ally said he respects her and wants her in his top team, but a spokesperson for Mr Burnham confirmed no decisions have been made. James Purnell, a former minister, is expected to become his Downing Street chief of staff.
