Prime Minister Andy Burnham vowed that no one who served in the British armed forces should sleep rough this Christmas. He will write to English councils on Armistice Day urging plans to house homeless veterans, backed by £8.7 million for specialist schemes and a wider £874 million rough-sleeping fund. He urged veterans to call the Op FORTITUDE helpline on 0800 952 0774 for housing support.
