Women and their partners who lose a pregnancy before 24 weeks, through miscarriage, termination or failed IVF, will get two weeks of unpaid leave from April 2027, Andy Burnham has announced. Parents of a stillborn baby after 24 weeks can already claim paid leave, but before that there was no legal right to leave. Miscarriage UK welcomed it and called for it to be paid.
