Britain's largest new oilfield delayed after drilling gear falls into the sea
Production at the Rosebank site was meant to begin this year before a safety valve plunged 1,100 metres underwater in April. Adura, the firm operating the project, sent the platform to Norway for repairs and now expects extraction to start in 2027. Miatta Fahnbulleh, the energy secretary, will decide whether to fully approve the massive North Sea development in August.
