The leading global cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, has halted all incoming and outgoing transactions and reports approximately $3 billion of the pilfered funds are inaccessible. It says a hacker got in through an engineer's compromised laptop, and it promises to cover all losses. Blockchain analytics company TRM states with "high confidence" that the cyberattack was carried out by North Korea's hacking entity known as TraderTraitor, surpassing the $1.5 billion Bybit theft of 2025.
