Scottish voters face big choices on tax and welfare.
Many Scottish residents face different income tax bills and increased social security spending compared to the rest of the UK. The 2026 Scottish Parliament election allows voters to decide on the SNP's approach to these issues, or consider alternative party plans. For example, those earning over £33,500 will pay about £1,500 more income tax annually than UK counterparts, while lower earners save up to £40.
