Taliban Launches Large-Scale Offensive Against Pakistan
Afghan forces initiated attacks on Pakistani military sites along the border on Thursday evening, in retaliation for Pakistani air strikes last week. These earlier strikes impacted Nangarhar and Paktia provinces, with Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid declaring wide-ranging offensive operations against Pakistani military installations. Pakistan had reported killing 70 fighters in its Sunday strikes; however, Afghanistan countered this, citing civilian fatalities. The 2,611-kilometre Durand Line marks the frontier between the two nations.
