Accountant charged: $1.3M from clients, only $25K invested

A Hamilton accountant has been charged with allegedly stealing over $1.3 million from three clients after offering them investment opportunities. On Wednesday, four charges were brought against David Waine in Hamilton District Court, three of which related to theft by a person in a special relationship. The Serious Fraud Office claims he used one client's $1.09 million for personal debts and business expenses, with only about $25,000 actually invested.
