BBC tells about 20 apprentices they will not get promised permanent jobs
The broadcaster, which employs around 21,500 full-time staff, needs to cut up to 2,000 roles by 2028 to save £500 million. Staff are angry because the apprenticeship programme purposely recruits young people from working-class backgrounds to improve workplace diversity. The affected trainees, including a few from previous years, will keep their temporary placements until December to find alternatives.
