BBC research finds 50% of English councils permit pavement parking
About half of all English councils are actively permitting pavement parking through marked bays or signs, BBC research shows. Disability charities report that this practice impedes street accessibility for individuals in wheelchairs and those with impaired vision. The government plans to give councils new powers to tackle inconsiderate pavement parking from September.
