2,500 tonnes scrap metal burns in Belfast fire.
Due to dense black smoke disseminating throughout Belfast, local inhabitants were advised to seal their windows and doors. On Sunday afternoon, a major fire at a metal recycling facility in Belfast's Titanic Quarter drew fire brigades to the scene. The firefighting activities were still in progress on Monday. The fire involved approximately 2,500 tonnes of scrap metal, with a significant number of firefighters, reported to be at least 75 at its peak, tackling the intense heat.
