Europe's deadly heatwave not caused by El Niño
Experts say Europe's current heatwave is mostly due to long-term warming, not the natural El Niño weather pattern. While El Niño can increase global temperatures, its direct effect on European summer heat is weak, mainly impacting tropical regions. Climate change has raised global temperatures by 1.3-1.5°C, much more than El Niño's usual 0.2°C temporary increase.
