Tower Hamlets councillors approve £178,000 pay increase
Residents in a deprived London borough will see their local councillors receive significant pay increases. Tower Hamlets council members recently voted to raise special responsibility allowances by over £178,000, with some individual increases reaching 130%. Executive Mayor Lutfur Rahman's salary will climb 13% to £92,000 annually, and two new paid posts are also being created.
