UK charities launch Venezuela quake appeal, government matches £2m.
UK aid charities have started an appeal to help thousands of people hurt and left homeless by two powerful earthquakes in Venezuela. The earthquakes last Wednesday have claimed over 1,700 lives, a figure the UN anticipates will increase, and left 5,000 injured. The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) is asking for donations, which the UK government will match up to £2 million.
