Britain's Broken Prison System Releases Three Wrongly Each Week
People are at risk from accidental prison releases, with at least three inmates mistakenly freed every week. Justice Secretary David Lammy called the number of mistaken releases "unacceptable", following a report by Dame Lynne Owens identifying a "broken system". The government plans to spend up to £82 million on digital records and biometrics to reduce errors.
