Exams regulator boss warns of AI cheating anxiety
Ofqual's chief, Sir Ian Bauckham, has voiced worries to Parliament regarding pupils using AI to gain an unfair advantage in assessed work. Subjects like English and history A-levels, which involve substantial writing, are particularly vulnerable. Ofqual is launching research to assess the scale of this problem and potential preventative actions. While AI could aid exam boards in quality checks, Bauckham stated that it is currently unreliable for grading papers. He proposed measures such as varied information formats and teacher declarations on work completion.
