Anthropic releases Opus 5.5 at a 20% lower price

Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5 on Tuesday, priced 20% below Opus 5 at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output. It is Anthropic's first launch since chief executive Dario Amodei urged companies and governments to slow AI development. Like Fable 5.1, it quietly routes most cybersecurity requests to the older Opus 4.8, and it is live on AWS, Google Cloud and Azure.
